Origin of Name
The name of the
municipality is in the insurgent commander's
honor Mariano Jimenez.
Description of the Shield
On
a leather parchment in color ocher appear in
white the silhouette of the map of the
municipality and a list arrives of this with its
name in gules. To the center the contour of the
shield of the Mexican United States is
appreciated, containing the silhouette of a
spike of giant wheat of six grains inside.
Among the grains of the spike, to the skillful
one they figure a horse, a bull and a goat,
copies characteristic of the cattle raising of
Jimenez; while among those of the sinister one a
bean sheath, an ear and two wheat spikes, main
agricultural products appear.
On the spike is an arrow tip remembering to the
prehispanic inhabitants of the region.
A wheat plant and one of corn knotted by a
tri-colored list, they finish off to the shield
in their inferior part.
